Kids develop a positive outlook filled with joy and peace, just one way sports teach children valuable Bible lessons about the fruit of the Spirit.

Sports activities teach children valuable Christian and life lessons about living by the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22), which includes nine positive attributes (love, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control, patience, joy, and peace).

The enjoyment kids receive from being active in sports helps children learn the life lessons of joy and peace.

Sports Activities Foster a Positive Attitude for Children

Many sports activities help participants develop a positive outlook in life, helping to nurture the following two fruits of the Spirit: Joy and Peace.

Studies show that exercise relaxes participants, providing peace of mind and improving overall health. Playing sports activities improves physical health, and being healthy further promotes optimism.

When a child tap dances, parents see the happiness on her face. They know she is doing something she loves, and, even better, they know it is healthy and positive for her. What parents wouldn't want that life lesson for their children?

Learning Joy and Peace Through Sports Guides Children Later in Life

During childhood is the time to instill a positive attitude in a person. Depression and anxiety disorders are rampant in adults today. Growing up with an optimistic outlook will help children avoid growing depressed. Sports activities help foster this optimism in children.

A habit of exercise by participating in sports activities also decreases the likelihood that the children of today will develop unhealthy, sedentary lifestyles as adults.

The Bible lessons of joy and peace are valuable life lessons for everyone, child or adult, to learn and nurture.

Sports Teach Children How to Live By the Spirit With Joy and Peace

Participating in sports activities leads children down the path toward positive Christian living, starting them off early with key Bible lessons on how to live and cultivate the fruit of the Spirit.

These two fruits of the spirit - joy and peace - help children live a happy, well-adjusted life. In fact, after love, these two fruits form the foundation of all the others. For example, how can a person remain faithful or be gentle when he or she is not at peace?

Living joyfully and at peace sets a firm foundation for children, starting them on a life filled with optimism and hope. Participating in sports activities helps provide this foundation for children, a foundation based on the Christian lessons of love, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control, patience, joy, and peace (the fruit of the Spirit). What parents would not want their children to begin life with such a firm foundation?

Children also learn the remaining fruits of the spirit (love, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control, and patience) by participating in sports. Altogether, these Christian lessons guide children to grow into respectful, well-adjusted adults.
